The Changing Times has tabled a bid for funding in orderthat we may
send to all GP practises in the area at least 10 copies of the magazines.
(At present we send 2, which isnt enough for each GP never mind
the waiting room and we want to remedy this for the March issue).
The focus will be on what help there is for a drink problem from your
GP and other professionals based there. Your GP is in fact your first
port of call for getting to other specialist services.
The March issue will include an article written by Dr Mann from the
Worcester St. practise in Stourbridge on the role of the GP with people
with a drink problem. It will also have a piece by an Aquarius alcohol
counsellor who is based in various GP surgeries, telling us what she
can offer.
Dr Lewis, who works at Atlantic House and is also a Halesowen GP,
is writing a piece on Shared Care between Atlantic House
and GPs for clients on methadone prescriptions.
These topics will go ahead whether we win the
grant bid or not (and at time of going to print we still don't know)
although we wont be able to send 10 magazines to each practise if
we don't !!

OF GOING TO YOUR GP WITH A DRINK PROBLEM, AND THE HELP YOU GOT.

point writing in with grumbles).
